Prologue: Every neighbourhood has that house. The one kids dare each other to ride past on their bikes, the one parents act like is totally normal, even though everyone knows it isn’t. In Chestnut Hill, that house belongs to Mr. Corbitt. He’s polite, tidy, and keeps to himself—maybe too much. You never see him at the grocery store, never spot him mowing his lawn. His curtains are always shut, even on the hottest days, and sometimes—late at night—you hear strange thumping sounds coming from inside. No one talks about it. No one wants to.

Then, last night, something weird happened. You and your friends were messing around, sneaking an extra lap around the block before heading home, when you saw it—a delivery guy in a ratty cap, dropping off a package on Corbitt’s porch. Nothing weird about that… except it was way past midnight. And the package? Small, lumpy, wrapped in brown paper, like something out of an old horror movie. Just before Corbitt opened the door and snatched it up, you saw a rip in the wrapping. For half a second, you thought you saw something pale inside. Fingers. Tiny, motionless fingers. But by morning, the porch was empty, and no one else seemed to notice a thing.

Maybe it was just your imagination. Maybe it was a trick of the streetlights. But deep down, you know the truth. Something’s wrong in that house. And whatever was in that package… Corbitt didn’t want anyone to see it.
