Prologue: Arthur is in the fight for his life, following the events of drawing the sword from the stone and the initial battles that followed directly after. Eleven northern kings have formed an alliance under Rience and Lot to remove Arthur from the throne and replace him with a more worthy candidate. Kay, Arthur’s adopted brother and trusted seneschal, is aware of the danger and is working hard to solidify alliances across the Midlands and south of Logres.
You are knights sworn in fealty to either Arthur or one of his supporters and have been identified as being suited to undertake a mission of great importance. Kay wants you to travel north to the Forest Sauvage and locate the manor of two great knights, Balin and Balan. Both are renowned for their skill at arms and would be powerful additions to Arthur’s forces.
Travel to the forest is fraught with danger—bandits harry the roads, and thieves can be found in every inn. In addition, in response to the crowning of the king, faeries and other supernatural beings haunt the roadways. Finally, Picts and Saxons, sent south and west by their lords, raid well into the territory claimed by Arthur.
Go North, find Sir Balin and bring him back to Arthur, for Merlin has sworn that Balin and Balan will turn the tide of battle against the Northern Kings, and the success of your mission will change the fate of Albion.
